The Electric Arc Furnace provides the heartbeat of the meltshop by serving the downstream equipment for steel treatment, casting and rolling with steel at the adequate temperature.
Beginning with the first Electric Arc Furnace (EAF), commissioned in January 1997, up to the current projects and into the future, SMS Concast sets benchmarks with the EAF installations worldwide. The steelmaking route has been developed to the full range of iron containing input materials. SMS Concast provides EAF solutions for all individual metallic input materials, as well as their combinations: scrap, preheated scrap, DRI, HBI, hot metal and handling of alloys & slag builders.
SMS Concast continuously improves EAF design with features which lead to highest power-input rates with topmost utilisation of the used energy and media. High attention is given to environmental soundness. Therefore innovative energy concepts and cutting edge solutions for saving resources and reducing emissions are provided.
