2. Supersonic Oxygen Technology

Supersonic Oxygen Injectors (CONSO) are installed on the side-walls and EBT panel of the furnace, working as oxy-fuel burner, carbon and oxygen injector.
In slow running furnaces burner and oxygen utilisation have the main target of improving productivity and decreasing production costs.
In high-powered furnaces burners and oxygen lancing aim at full balance with the high power input and by additional carbon injection to perform the foaming slag operation.

In large-size furnaces with a high input of electrical and chemical energy, so called UHCP (Ultra-High Chemical Power), UHCP tools such as reliable system components (water boxes, quick couplings, check valves, etc.) can be applied for precise media flow regulation.

Each burner is fed by three independent gas regulation lines and one independent carbon feeding line, full process automation by means of CONSO process control system.

The characteristics are:
  • Burners up to 8 MW ( O2 supersonic lance up to 3’500 Nm3/h )
  • Small weight of the injectors of only 15 kg
  • Up to 80 kg/min carbon injection
