2. Stopper Control System

For casting special quality steel submerged pouring is carried out by using a refractory tube to pour the steel into the mould. This refractory tube protects the steel stream from contact with the atmosphere and prevents the formation of inclusions due to re-oxidation.

For perfect submerged casting Stopper Control System (ConFlow) provides extremely accurate and fast control of stopper position, reliable and low-maintenance electro-mechanical system, in additional automatic strand start-up sequence.

The special ConFlow control system ensures constant mould level, auto mould filling, nozzle protection, stopper cleaning, overflow protection and breakout detection.

The main features are:
  • Reaction time of approx. 10 ms
  • Stopper stroke of 100 mm
  • Stopper speed of 250 mm/s
