2. Electrode Regulation

SMS Concast electrode regulation is designed to control the impedance or current in each phase of a three-phase arc furnace (EAF or LF).

The electrode regulator is controlled automatically from a melting or refining program. This regulator has a built-in melting / refining program or melting recipe manager.

According to the customer requirements the melting or refining program is properly interfaced with the furnace basic automation. The full digital control system is implemented on a standard PLC and integrated in the process control system. The user-friendly interface is done by a dedicated workstation for the electrode regulator monitoring, historical trending and setup.


The characteristics are:

  • Measure of the secondary currents
  • Electrode anti-breakage function
  • Dynamic compensation of set points
