The heart of any caster is the prime solidification zone: comprising MOULD and Mould Tube.
The ultimate goal of SMS Concast is to provide to its customers the optimum tool for minimum conversion cost at maximum product quality. SMS Concast has the metallurgical know-how required for the definition of optimised geometry for any long product tube and any application.
Building on the success of the CONVEX Technology®, SMS Concast has developed a new generation of mould technology respectively mould tubes. The INVEX® Technology is continuing the well-known design features of the CONVEX tubes adding reduced wall thickness and large corner configuration. These unique design features allow maximum heat transfer and uniform, fast shell growth resulting in higher productivity and / or improved corner quality.
The larger corner configuration is allowing the direct charging into the rolling mill without reheating of the cast product, contributing to a reduction in CO2 emission.
All mould tubes are produced in our workshop under application of our unique, patented CNC machining process giving a superior accuracy and reproducibility to any drawing process. This unique fabrication process can be applied for new as well as for recalibrated tubes.
To complete the range of products for the initial solidification zone SMS Concast is also in a position to supply complete sets of mould plates together with the respective back-up plates for bloom as well as for beam blank sections.
