Aggregates of the secondary metallurgy ensure accurate temperature and precise chemical composition of the steel. Modern process technologies of SMS Concast are combined with durable components.
The designs and process control of ladle furnaces are designed for extended life time of the electrodes. For steel plant operators this means increased output while minimising operational costs. SMS Concast builds ladle furnaces as single or double pan stations with tower or carousel arrangements.
Vacuum degassing plants (VD) produce liquid steel of highest purity. Sulfur, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen content are significantly reduced in the melt. SMS Concast facilities achieve superior efficiency.
For the production of stainless steel, the melt in the VOD (vacuum oxygen decarburization) system is treated with secondary metallurgical processes.
